Introduction

Our MBA program embraces lean management and sustainable business practices, including Triple Bottom Line and the Balanced Scorecard. Our MBA students learn the foundational subjects in business (marketing, accounting, finance, operations, human resources, and business law). Additionally, students can choose among four areas for more in-depth specialization.

The Program

To obtain an MBA degree at UNICAL, students must complete a total of 60 ECTS, consisting of:

  • 18 ECTS to fulfill the MBA Foundation requirement
  • 18 ECTS in specialization courses, and
  • 12 ECTS in elective courses to fulfill the MBA Depth requirement.
  • 12 ECTS to fulfill the Research components and the Master Thesis project requirement
MBA Foundation Requirement (18 credits)

As a preparation for meeting the requirement of a specialization, each MBA student must demonstrate a basic competence in the foundational fields of business. This is demonstrated by having a total of 18 credits earned by taking at least 3 ECTS in each of five of the following eight fields:

MBA Depth Requirement: Specialization (18 credits)
  • All MBA students in the Standard Format must complete a specialization. A specialization is a depth of study in one cross-functional field consisting of at least 18 credits.
  • Examples of specialization topics are business process improvement, sustainable business, accounting, and transport and supply chain management.
  • Each specialization must include two research seminars and a Master Thesis in which there is a substantial requirement of research and writing.
  • Specializations will be noted on the student’s transcript and diploma. Contents of current specialization options are shown below.
Elective Courses (12 Credits)
  • Each specialization must also include 12 credits of elective courses. These courses must either further deepen the students’ studies of his chosen specialization, or be selected from the required courses offered in other specialization (s).
